Thomas Stavert scored a hat-trick and added an assist as Team PEI closed out the 2011 Canada Games with a 6-3 win over Team Newfoundland and will finish 9th in Halifax.
At the Dartmouth Sportsplex on Thursday, Evan Morrison (1-3), Dalton MacDonald (1-1), and Kameron Keilly also lit the lamp. Benji Gaudet and Sam Hughes added helpers.
For Newfoundland, Tyler Burton, Dylan O'Leary, and Liam Hynes had singles, while Kris Hodge, Josh Crane, Jordan Kennedy, and Kyle Tibbo recorded assists.
Sam Walsh took the win in goal stopping 35 of 38 shots, while Mitchell Puddester stopped 31 of 37 in a losing effort for Newfoundland.
PEI held period leads of 3-1 and 3-2.

Team PEI knocked off Team Northwest Territories 8-3 to get themselves into a placement game for 9th place tomorrow against Team Newfoundland.
Kameron Keilly (2-1), Evan Morrison (2-1), Dalton MacDonald (1-1), Logan Doiron, Mark MacMillan, and Nathan Ellis scored for Team PEI, with Thomas Stavert (2), Jackson Donovan, Willie Gaudet, Jordan Mayhew, and Connor Smith picking up helpers.
Scoring for the Northwest Territories was Ryan McCauley (2) and Johnny Dewar. Assists went to Cody Villebrun (2), Evan Tordiff, and Connor O'Brien.
Daryl MacCallum stopped 22 of 25 shots for the win, while Connor Goudreau took the loss for the Territories.
PEI held a 51-25 shots advantage and held period leads of 3-0 and 6-1.
Team PEI will face off with Team Newfoundland at 11:30am on Thursday at the Dartmouth Sportsplex. The winner will finish 9th, the loser will finish 10th.

Team PEI will not advance to the quarter-finals after a 6-2 loss to Team New Brunswick on Tuesday evening at the Metro Centre.
Zachary Whitlock (2), MacKenzie Brown, Mitchell Vanderlaan, Noah Zilbert, and Eric Theriault scored for New Brunswick, while Shane Dallaire (2), Stephen Johnson (2), Jacob Arsenault, Frederick Noel, Alex Bradley, and Tyler Johnson had assists.
For PEI, Kameron Keilly and Thomas Stavert did the scoring, while Zach Beaton, and Jackson Donovan picked up helpers.
PEI will move on to face Northwest Territories in a placement game tomorrow morning at 11:30 at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.
Newfoundland Takes Game and Wins Pool C

Bridges
Team Newfoundland came out of the gate flying and never looked back as they downed Team PEI 5-1 to win Pool C on Monday morning at the Dartmouth Sportsplex.
Scoring for the winners was Peter Kavanagh (2), Kris Hodge (1-1), Liam Hynes (1-1), and Kyle Tibbo. Assists went to Jordan Kennedy (2), Dylan O'Leary, Chris Mallard, and Matt Kennedy.
Blaize Bridges scored PEI's lone goal assisted by Benji Gaudet and Nathan Ellis.
Mitchell Puddester took the win in goal for Newfoundland, while Daryl MacCallum took the loss for Team PEI.
Newfoundland held a 4-1 lead after both the first and second periods.
Both teams will compete in tomorrow's qualification round. Newfoundland will face Nova Scotia at 4pm at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, while PEI will play their qualification game against the bottom seed in Pool B on Tuesday at 4pm at the Metro Centre. Their opponent will be decided after Monday night's game between Manitoba and Alberta. The winner's of these qualification games will advance to the quarter-finals.

Damon MacDonald scored twice and added an assist as Team PEI took a come-from-behind 7-4 decision over the Northwest Territories on Sunday morning at the Metro Centre.
Also scoring for PEI were Willie Gaudet (2), Evan Morrison (1-2), Nathan Ellis and Blaize Bridges. Adding helpers were Zach Beaton (2), Luke McIsaac, Dalton MacDonald, and Sam Walsh.
Replying for the Territories was Carter Kenneth Hill (2), Gavin Joseph Broadhead, and Ryan McCauley. Adding assists were Jacob Schofield (2), Evan Tordiff (2), Connor O'Brien, and Tye Hand.
The Territories held period leads of 2-1 and 3-1 before the Islanders broke through for six third period goals.
Sam Walsh took the win in goal for PEI, while Connor Goudreau took the loss.
PEI will take on Newfoundland in a game for first place in the Pool on Monday morning at the Dartmouth Sportsplex at 11:30am.

Mark MacMillan and Evan Morrison each had two goals and two assists as Team PEI opened with a dominant 10-1 win over Team Yukon on Saturday morning at the Metro Centre in Halifax.
Also scoring for the winners was Luke McIsaac (1-2), Kameron Kielly (1-2), Zach Beaton, Dalton MacDonald, Blaize Bridges, and Logan Doiron. Thomas Stavert (2), Connor Smith, Damon MacDonald, and Jordan Mayhew had assists.
Responding for Yukon was Tyrell Hope, with Chris Anderson picking up the assist.
In the other Pool C game, Newfoundland cruised to a 7-1 win over the Northwest Territories.
Team PEI is in action again tomorrow against the Northwest Territories at 11:30am at the Metro Centre.
